Entries are now open for the Mercia Novice Open, taking place at Allestree Woodlands School on Sunday 19th February 2023.
This is an epee, foil and sabre event aimed specifically at introducing new and less experienced fencers to competition, though others are also welcome to enter (see information below for exceptions). This is also a Recreational event, so fencers who want to see if competition is for them are very welcome to enter without needing to buy an upgrade to their existing British Fencing membership.

Foiled Again fencers: if you’ve finished your beginners course and are now thinking about competitions, this would be a great place to start! You can borrow most of the kit and equipment you’ll need from the club but must let us know and also enter the competition. Please speak to Paula about borrowing/buying breeches, then the only thing you’re likely to need is knee-length socks (football socks or similar are ideal).
